This little light of mine

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Is a old Negro spiritual that is still sung throughout the country by many Americans of all different races. This song is very simple in it’s words, yet it’s consistent message is very empowering. It’s a song of hope, and it’s subliminal message, is that we all have a “light” to shine! The reason many people love the words and relate to the song is simply, because we recognize there is a light inside of us.

Either you are allowing your light to shine or you aren’t. Regardless of what you are doing with your light whether it’s active or dormant, it exist within you! Your light is all you have, everything else is really nonexistent. You don’t really have a car, live in a home or wear nice clothes. You are energy, a spirit enclosed in a body. Your spirit has desires, to achieve it’s purpose and fulfill it’s greatest desire.

There is a story of a servant and a king. One day the king sent the servant to a foreign land to perform a specific task. The servant was picked because he had many abilities and talents. The king had confidence in the servant’s ability to accomplish the specific task. As the servant traveled to his destination, he helped many people, throughout the different lands he passed. He preformed a thousand task throughout his journey, and received tons of praise for all of his efforts, yet he was unable to complete the task he was sent for. When he returned he had a great smile across his face. The king asked him did he complete the specific task he was sent for. The servant replied, no, but along the way I performed over a thousand task in your name. The king replied, You did many things, yet every task you completed along the way means nothing if you didn’t do the one thing you were sent for. If you were sent on a mission and you did everything except your purpose for the mission, should you be rewarded by the king?

If you lived a “good life” and accomplish many task along the way without ever touching your purpose, never allowing your light to shine, never accomplishing your mission. Wouldn’t your journey be meaningless?

Your light= passion and purpose

When we tap into our light, it injects life within us. It’s a true feeling of being alive, free and limitless. Have you ever felt totally free, powerful, and fulfilled? If so what were you doing? The chances are you were tapping into your light.

It’s unfortunate to say, yet many people’s lights have dimmed and died out. People have given up on their dreams only to bargain, for a life full of complacency. People become very bitter and despondent towards life after they have allowed their “light” to die out. So the goal is to never allow your light to die. Keep your hope light lit, and never live in despair.

You are solely in control of your light shinning

So they settled!

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Are you listening to that small voice inside, or are you conforming to what the world believes you should be? Do you come up with excuses or results? Are you reading this as something to read, or are you looking for the seed of change within it’s message?
We all get signs, instructions and directions along the highways of life, are you using them? There is a course that has already been predestined for your life, are you following your plan? People try to dress up their exterior, join social clubs, abuse alcohol and drugs, all to avoid themselves. Are you one of them? We live in a world where people take on an identity instead of discovering their own identity!

People are wearing uniforms! Conforming, blending in, without any unique distinction. Your next door neighbors were to afraid to explore themselves, afraid to step out on faith, afraid to follow his/her directions, afraid to live… so they settled!!! Settled for what… one vacation a year with a 30 year fixed mortgage and bills until their number is called? That’s not life! No wonder there are so many diseases, and miserable people. The life as a conformist is unfulfillable!

Hoping their kids will do better. All to have the cycle repeated. Change starts with you! Stop trying to pass the baton without you running your leg first! Most parents live in the fairly tale world “Hopefully my kids won’t have to struggle the way I did”. Well it first starts with you, it’s what you live that is instilled in a child, not what you say! Don’t hope your child will do better, become your child’s greatest example. Live a life of confidence, take risk, speak up, live by faith, don’t socialize with the naysayers, take action, make goals for your kids to see, live by integrity, persist, persevere, strive, and grow. Encourage your child to pick his/her own clothes, by you removing your uniform.

Your uniform isn’t in the clothes, it’s in the mind!

Action: Discover your identity! YES! It takes a lot of energy and time, aren’t you worth it?

Avoid the “Rat Race”!

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Working from your passion, brings a whole new meaning to “WORK”. After all many people wake up day after day working for employers they can’t stand. Working in positions that is far from challenging or even interesting! Think about it, people spend most of their lives working for someone. To provide their children with better opportunities, only to have their children repeat the same cycle. When is it going to end? Don’t rely on the school system to teach your kids how to avoid the rat race! It first starts with you! If you have dreams of greatness and never act on them, how will your kids have any courage to step out on faith? The reality is they won’t! The days of job security is gone, you are your only security. Stop relying on someone to pay you weekly, a small percentage of what they think you are worth. Put your passion to work for you… start out small and continue to grow!

Leave a comment… tell me your thoughts!

Action: Do a search under your passion to find other people in your field. Look at their business structure and how they are making money from your passion. Take one idea that you can do to generate income and apply it!

find a job or Discover your Passion?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Many people are losing their jobs due to the changing times. There is a surplus of qualified individuals and not enough of high paying jobs on the market. A lot of people feel forced to go back to school to become “more qualified”. The fear of not having a job is becoming a vivid picture in the minds of many.

The option to find something we love to do is always knocking on our doors! Yet its often ignored and replaced with complaints about the work place. It doesn’t matter how many degrees you get most people will always perform on an average level in the work place because they are operating outside of their passion. We all can agree that Micheal Jordan was a great basketball player, some say the best to ever play in the NBA. What would happen if Micheal Jordan became a Attorney instead of a basketball player? Would we still know his name the way we know it now? Would many argue to say he is one of the best to ever walk in the court room?
I don’t think so. He’d probably be a good attorney, instead he became a great basketball player by discovering his passion!
We can undertake any task or occupation but we would never scratch the surface of our potential until passion is our motivating fuel.

Action: Spend time and think about, if money wasn’t an issue but you had to get a job, what would you do? What truly gives you pleasure outside of money? Explore ways to become active in your passion, and monetize it!
