You didn’t think it was possible to eat a cow whole, did you?
So why do you look at your goals that way?
Even losing weight is much more doable when we look at it as 1 pound a week for 30 weeks, opposed to the “I have to join the gym to lose 30 pounds” attitude. There will always be a disconnect, because naturally we think… I gotta have it right now, our conditioning makes us feel we must lose 30 pounds in one week. When a person looks at the “30 pound mountain” pulsating in front of them , it tends to be very discouraging. One pound a week is a much more attainable goal.
How did you grow to an adult from an infant? One day at a time.
(I’m saying it simple because it is that simple)
The same principles that were used when you were a child still apply! This proven system has worked for you time and time again. The problem is… you didn’t know it! Apply it to every area of your life… and continue to achieve!
There are some great people you can meet on social networking sites ( Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin, etc ). There’s no excuse for not meeting individuals who share the same interest you do… all you have to do is “request them as a friend”. I recently read a post from an anonymous member saying “I just finished a 8 km run”, I loved the confidence in his statement so I asked…
Hey ________ what did you do to prepare for the run?
Kenneth,
It turns out the biggest step in preparation was thinking I can, and I was right!
I’ve been walking 8km+ every few days for over a year, sporadically before then, with the occasional few minutes of running here and there. “Back then”, I kept thinking “running is hard”, “I think I can’t”, and I was right! Then!
Back on Sunday May 4th, I had entered the Vancouver International Marathon for the 8km event, in support of Team Diabetes, affiliated with The Canadian Diabetes Association.
At the event, there was incredible energy, motivation, good vibe, strong support, excellent “cheerleading”, and I just kept running, and running, and kept saying to myself, “I think I can”, along with the continuous positive input from others, and I did it.
So today I thought I’d go and take on the 8km river run with an “Army of One”, and keep repeating “I think I can”.
Next, continue to work on increasing the speed I run at, then increase the distance.
I think I can!
Cheers
Believing he was able to run the distance was the most crucial part. The race is won in your head first!
Often times you find individuals doubting their business concept and their personal abilities to run a successful business. As a result the business fails and the owner is left with a question mark over his/her head. Before you can convince anyone you are a winner, you must first convince yourself. Once you have conviction the world will follow one person at a time!
Action: Remind yourself of your past accomplishment and associate that feeling with your new undertakings. That will boost your confidence and give you the momentum needed to go the distance. Repeat to yourself… “I think I can” and you will.
